If Marmolada is the Queen of the Dolomites, the beautiful Becco di Mezzodì, in my opinion, is the undisputed crownprince! Becco di Mezzodì - the 'peak of the midday'. So named because if you look at it from Cortina at noon, the sun is directly above it.

Becco di Mezzodì is a mountain of the Croda da Lago chain, a small mountain group in the central Dolomites. It is located above the resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo in Belluno, northern Italy. The mountain's name means Midday Peak in the local dialect, as the sun appears directly above the peak at midday from Cortina. The climb usually starts from the Refuge Croda da Lago on the road to the Giau Pass.

From the Croda da Lago refuge, it's a very straightforward ascent to Forcella Ambrizzola, the saddle between Becco di Mezzodì and Croda da Lago. Trail 434 continues steadily along the eastern wall of Croda da Lago towards Becco di Mezzodi, without any difficulty. The path also affords wonderful views of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the Cristallo.
